Outserter
A system to apply pharmaceutical information 'outserts' onto round or rectangular products.
The outserter application is a diversion from the typical pressure sensitive labelling in that it uses a transfer medium (adhesive) which is applied to the paper outsert on the applicator head. Outserts are a folded paper document designed to provide a large amount of information which can easily be detached from the product without critical damage to the outsert or the information contained therein. It is predominantly used in the pharmaceutical sector where “Drugs Facts” legislation dictates the amount of detail which must accompany the product. Historically this information has been provided via the inclusion of an insert along with the product in its outer carton, however with the outsert being directly applied to the product there is no need for the carton which reduces packaging costs and is also viewed as environmentally friendly.
A variety of outsert loading methods are available from bulk, to simple cartridge feeder, which, when combined with transfer tapes of different specifications, provide many solutions for this unusual application
Multi-fold outsert come in a variety of sizes and can be applied on both rotary and linear machines, from slow speed to many hundreds of products per minute
